Come in your best costume and experience MerCo for Halloween. Tucked away in the northern corner of Illinois, you can bring your Halloween Spirit and enjoy our local events. There is plenty of fun for all ages and we hope to see some new faces alongside the locals. Here are just a few spooktacular activities going on this weekend and the day of.

Viola, Illinois

In Viola, there are a few events we would like to highlight during this Halloween season. On Saturday, you can make your way to Viola United Methodist Church for a Community Wide Halloween Party. This event is hosted by the Saddle Teens 4-H Club on October 28 from 2-4pm. Here you can enjoy games, create something to take home, dress up for the costume contest, and get some treats! You are able to attent this event for free and all ages are encouraged to come and enjoy.

On the 29th of October from 12-3pm, you can bring the kids for a trunk-or-treat at the 4-Way Stop. The Bean Field will be providing free hot chocolate to the little ones participating in the event. So come on out, dress up, and enjoy collecting treats in Viola this Halloween weekend!

On the day of Halloween, we encourage you to attend The REC Center’s Halloween Bash. This event is for ages 15 years old and above. It is free to attend. When you arrive you can look forward to playing games to win prizes and attend the dance party later on. There is also a costume contest that you can participate in for a $5 fee. Come dance the night away at The REC Center.

Matherville, Illinois

Make your way to the Halloween parade and trick-or-treating in Matherville on October 29th! This town is known for their firework display at the stunning Lake of Matherville on July 3rd. The parade will start at 4pm at Old School Park and trick-or-treat starts at 5-7pm. Stick around after the parade for treats/drinks for the littles ones at the park.

We have our communities’ usual trick-or-treat times listed there as well as a few events at local establishments. There are plenty of places to get your treats in Mercer County, Illinois and we hope you come to experience our community.
