GUIDELINES & FORMAT:V (general volleyball rules pinned below)

6v6 MIXED GRASS DOUBLE ELIMINATION TOURNAMENT

ROSTER: Each team will be required to turn in a roster sheet as provided by MCJ with signatures of each player the morning of the event to complete registration. Individuals may play for only one team. Teams may participate with a maximum of six (6) players on the court at one time, with a minimum of four (4) players. Teams must have no more than three (3) male players on the court at one time. Rosters may include up to twelve (12) total players.
-->CO-ED VOLLEYBALL RULE ADAPTATIONS:
a. Serving order and floor positions must alternate male/female to the extent possible.
b. When the ball is played more than once by a team, at least one of the contacts must be made by a female player. Contact of the ball during blocking shall not constitute playing the ball. There is no requirement for a male to contact the ball, regardless of the number of contacts by a team.
c. One back court player may also block when there is only one male in the front court.

CAPTAINS: Each designated team captain is responsible for the conduct of their players and must keep them informed of schedule, rules, etc. Only team captains may address rules issues or complaints with MCJ personnel.

FORFEIT:
Teams will be given a five-minute grace period from the scheduled starting time in order to field a team. Start times will be announced by MCJ personnel throughout the event. As soon as three (3) players (with at least one male and one female) are present, the match shall begin. Should a team not have a team present after a five-minute grace period, the first game will be forfeited; 15 minutes following the scheduled game time, the second game will be forfeited and Team will be credited with a loss.

SERVE: A best of 1 Rock, Paper, Scissors will give the winning team the option of serving first or their preference on side of courts. Teams shall change side of court following each game of the match and shall alternate first service.

OFFICIALS: Games are self-officiated. You must call your own violations and side out. In the event that a call is contested or teams are not sure of the call, the point will be replayed. In the case of a disagreement on a rules issue, the decision of the MCJ supervisor/official will be final. No protests. Integrity goes a long way in assuring all teams have a fun, safe tournament; so BE HONEST when you are in the net, on lift calls, double-hits, out-of-bounds, etc.

MATCH: Games will be rally scored. Each match consists of up to three (3) games. The first two (2) games will be played to 21 points. The third game, if necessary, will be played to 15 points.
Teams must win by two points.

WARM UP: Teams are not guaranteed on-court warm up time. They may warm up on the grass areas
outside of the courts. If schedule allows, on-court warm-up time may be available.

TIME OUTS: Each team will be allowed one (1) 30-second time out per game.

AREA OF PLAY: The ball will remain in play until it contacts the ground or hits an object. Out of bounds lines will be painted on grass court. Nets do not have antennae, so dead ball is solely based on out of bounds lines.

BALLS: Private balls may be substituted for MCJ volleyballs only if agreed upon by both team captains.
